This evening gown is made of 18 gauge 1/4" bright aluminum with blue anodized aluminum trim. overall weight is exactly four pounds, and it took me about 110 hours to complete. The lining is black satin. It is held in place by hook clasps so that it can be removed for washing.
It's designed to fit a 42" hip, though it looks better on a smaller hip. The top looks good on any one from a small C cup to a small B cup. The smallest measurement is 30" so either the hips or bust, must be smaller than this measurement in order to slide it on.
I would be concerned though about the slide clasp holding up to wear. I see the ribbon at the lower back, I presume that snugs things up at the hips and helps take some of the weight? I'd hate to think that the whole thing is supported by the one strip of 18swg 1/4" aluminum.
The ribbon is not a ribbon. It is a small piece of Byzantine to cover up the bottom of the V. The aluminum isn't strong enough there so I used stainless. That however, broke the blue trim pattern. The "Ribbon" of Byzantine solves that problem and ties the outfit in nicely with the bracelet and earing combo in the same pattern.
The neck strap is also reinforced with stainless.
